Summary

Letter of Chnoummachis, son of Espmetsepsis, to Eschnompmetis, focusing on a meeting of the sender with the chief of the Southern Land concerning offerings for Chnoum because of lack of emmer. Request to delegate the pastophor to Alexandria, to deliver the stick bouquet ("Stabstrauß") of the chief of Thebes and the Chnoum priest to the king on the occasion of the annual victory celebration of the battle of Raphia.

Translation

1	[Voice of Chnoummachis], son of Espmetsepsis,
2	[before the carrier-of-Ra] Eschnompmetis,
3	the priest of Hapi. Oh may Pre cause
4	his lifetime to be long! I have reached the nome
5	of Esna. I have visited
6	the chief of the [Southern Land] concerning
7	the offering income before Chnoum.
8	I have spoken in front of him concerning
9	emmer as emmer. He has said to me: ‘I will cause
10	the chief of Thebes to come to the north.
11	When I come back, I will cause to be given
12	to you emmer as emmer. Let your
13	agent stay here! I will not allow
14	that something goes wrong with the offering income
15	before Chnoum.’ I have hesitated,

18	of all matters being with you!
19	Let the Pastophor arrive,
20	who shall take [the] wreath

24	(the wreath) of the Great! They may deliver
25	the dispatches of the nome scribes!
26	Send to me (concerning) the matters happened
27	to you! Issued by Chnoummachis
