1[Voice of Espmet]sepsis [_] before his master, the carrier-of-Ra Chnoummachis, the scribe of the divine roll. I greet you before Ptah, the great god. Oh may he cause me to see you again without harm! [_] O may Pre cause his lifetime to be long! In the 16th regnal year [///]
2The matters which happened on this day, when the wab priests of Chnoum travelled to Memphis to visit the overseer of the field, will [not] be hidden from you from that day onwards when they happened. I have arrived before the overseer of the field. I have told him the matters happened [to me?].
3He has spoken to me: ‘If you desire travel to the South, you are welcome! If you desire to stay here in Memphis, stay again!’ I have found out that my matters 1Lit."the things with me". could be strengthened if I would stay here in Memphis. Therefore, I stayed (in Memphis). Do not let anybody 2Cf. Den Brinker / Muhs / Vleeming, DBL (2005), 54.
4in the world make your heart sad by reason of a matter which happened here in Memphis unlawfully! Akky, son of Snebonychos, and Nepherpres, son of Harnouphis, will report everything which I have said to them before the scribe of the divine roll. They (scil. the words resp. matters) are too numerous to be written in a letter.
5Spotous, the lesonis, and the wab priests who accompany him tell me all circumstances which are well. I know the fact that he is entitled(?) to permit writing in my presence 3Cf. Den Brinker / Muhs / Vleeming, DBL (2005), 54. during the journey of the god of the gate. Nothing happens except the works of the god.
6Be unconcerned! I carry out work on the papyrus rolls wich are in my hand. I have met the scribes of the treasury, with whom meeting here is profitable They have told me what is suitable. I wrote this letter on the 23rd of Mecheir. I will deliver these letters written in my presence 4Cf. Den Brinker / Muhs / Vleeming, DBL (2005), 54.
7to the officials on the 24th (of Mecheir), together with Spotous, the lesonis. The high priest had not a word with me concerning the journey in the way of a man who knows another in person since former times. Age will tell you the mentioned matters. The wab priests have reached an agreement to hand over to me 1 silver (deben) and 2 (silver) kite,
vso 1 because(?) they were left over. The money and the castor oil, which they have brought to Memphis: It is he who apportioned so as not to allow 5According to Den Brinker / Muhs / Vleeming, DBL (2005), 54. giving it to me, speaking: ‘I will tell it before the overseer of the field. It will be given to him.’ As soon as the overseer of the field arrives, you shall appear before him. You shall tell him everything
vso 2 that has to be said and that is appropriate. It may happen that I go there for a talk(?). May it not happen that he takes offence at you! This is not a matter which you had ordered to me! But as soon as I arrive I will let you know that I have not triggered
vso 3 a scandal. In this letter, I have revealed nothing (in detail), so that no one is able to read it before it reaches you. You will hear them all on declaration of Age and Nepherpres. Do not worry about a matter
vso 4 which has nothing! By Chnoum, the Great, master of Elephantine! Anything appropriate escaped(?) the scribe of the divine roll, in order to cause it do be done to him for my sake during the journey by ship. I have received a fingertip(?) of ..?.., yields by estimate 2 silver (deben), 5 kite, (and) a fingertip of ..?.. I have delivered them
vso 5 into the hand of Nepherpres, son of Harnouphis, in order to bring them to you as soon as the god saves me. And I myself will bring (to you) everything which is worth bringing. I will send to you concerning the matters which will happen with us here. The(?) [///],
vso 6 May it be ordered to send to us concerning this! I have written this letter when Spotous, the lesonis, was on the move to Philae, together with the Chnoum priests because of the priests who ought to be elected as wab priests of Chnoum and [Satis(?)] 6Cf. Den Brinker / Muhs / Vleeming, DBL (2005), 54..
vso 7 [Written in the xth regnal year], 24th of Mecheir.
vso 8 [Voice of Espmet]sepsis before his master, the carrier-of-Ra Chnoummachis, the scribe of the divine roll.

3 Cf. Den Brinker / Muhs / Vleeming, DBL (2005), 54.
4 Cf. Den Brinker / Muhs / Vleeming, DBL (2005), 54.
