1On the 18th of Elul, that is day 28 of Pachons, year 15 of Xerxes the king,
2Konaiah son of Zadak, an Aramean of Syene of the detachment of Varyazata, (1) said (2) to Mahseiah son of <<Jedaniah>>(Jenadiah), an Aramean of Syene
3of the detachment of Varyazata, saying "I came to you, and you gave me the gateway of the house (that) belongs to you to build
41 wall there. That wall belongs to you. It is that which adjoins1"Wall" is masculine in other texts. Here it is feminine. the house belonging to me (that is), its corner which is an upper story.
5\You shall adjoin this wall to the side of my house, from the ground to the top, from the corner of my house which is an upper-story to the house of Zechariah./
6Tomorrow or a day after, I shall not be able to restrain you from building upon that wall belonging to you.
7If I will have restained you, I shall give you silver, 5 karsh by the stone(-weight)s of the king, pure silver, and that wall
8is assuredly (yours). And if Konaiah dies tomorrow or a day after, no son or daughter, brother or sister,
9near or far, detachment leader or town (8) shall be able (9) to restrain Mahsah or a son of his from building upon
10that wall belonging to him. Whoever of them shall restrain, shall give him the silver which is written above and the wall
11assuredly belongs to you. You have right to build upon it up to the top (of the building). And I, Konaiah, shall not be able
12to say to Mahsah, saying: 'That gateway, it does not belong to you, and it shall not extend into the street which is
13between us and between the house of Pefṭuauneit the boatman.' If I will have restrained you, I shall give you the silver which is written above,
14and you have right to open that gateway and to extend (it) into the street which is between us (and Pefṭuauneit).
15Pelatiah son of Ahio wrote this document at the instruction of Konaiah. The witnesses herein:
16witness Mahsah son of Isaiah; witness Shatibarzana son of ˀtrly; witness Shatibarzana son of ˀtrly;
