Comments on Object | Fragments of the first line have been joined to the papyrus using, what appears to be, a brown tape adhesive. Their position matches that published in the photographs of Sayce and Cowley pl. L. The placement of the fragments do not resemble that in Yardeni's hand copy. TAD correctly identified that the first is a חי, which they place in the name אחיו in line 1. The second is upside down. They read it as the רי of גמריה, and place it in line 1. The thrid they seems to be placed in the numbers of line 4. The fifth in ינתנונ of line 6. The final they read as the מר of the word לאמר in line 1. TAD's placement of some fragments are objectionable on material grounds in attempted digital reconstructions, but without consulting the object with conservator, this remains unresolved. Hence, TAD's reconstruction is generally followed here. |

Comments on Text | See comments on object. The document is missing the endorsement, so the "genre" remains unknown. But if TADs (and not Cowley's) reconstruction is correct, this is the only document from Elephantine with this formula, though it is known from Saqqarah (e.g. TAD B.4.7; B.5.6) |

1 TAD places a fragment here that could also be 3 in line 2 2 The fragment placed here has a mark before the ע, which calls it into doubt. Perhaps the ר and 111 of line 2? 3 "20" and "10" come from a fragment originally placed on line 2. 4 The fragment placed here does not fit correctly. |
