Comments on Text |
A bout love charm is of interest as it mentions a demon Sīdūk, whos name occurs in an anecdote of Tanūhi in part viii of his Nishwār al-Muhādara, A poet Abū Ṭāhir ʿAbd al-ʿAziz b. Hʿamid (ob, 363) was called Sīdūk, and explain that he had this name as chief of the poets, Sīdūk being chief of the Jinn, The vizier Muhallabi derived the name from Sayyid Halūk, the latter being according to him a clan of Jinn, The charm contains many barbarous words, in the style of one to be found in the work Shams al-Ma’ārif al-kubrā, Cairo 1324, I, 99.
