R
To Santobithys, chief bodyguard and strategos,
from Esoroeris son of Petoseiris, descendant.
I am wronged by Neoptolemos son of Neoptolemos,
whose fatherland I do not know, one of the soldiers posted
at Syene. A house belongs to me in
the fortress of Syene and he is billeted there.
Although before this time I was
unreproached by him, now in the month of Mecheir of year 33,
having contrived an argument with me deliberately,
for a time he was reviling me very shamefully, but then,
going beyond the law, he broke apart the ceiling of the
dwelling above so that I would always be spattered with dust.
Not content with that, using the
villainous behavior typical of him, seizing me in the
courtyard, they were beating me with numerous blows to every
part of my body in the presence of some of those in ---
---. And because on account of this
issue, I have moved? to the Ombite (nome) to [---]
[---] and [---]
[---] he insults/violates me against the good order.
But because you have [come] to the area as a help
to the one who has been wronged, I request, if you please,
[---] us, that from the [---
[---] investigation I may obtain what is right.
Farewell.
