Summary of Content | Petition of Appion, bishop of Syene and Philae, to the emperor Theodosius II, with traces of the imperial rescript of the imperial chancellery, complaining about the frequent attacks of the Blemmyes and the Noubades in the region and asking for military assistance from the troops stationed in the vicinity for the protection of the churches of Syene and Elephantine. Appion also asks the troops to be placed under his command in all matters, as seems to be the case in the garrison of Philae. |
