Range of Preservation (Text) | incomplete
State of Preservation (Text) | Recto: The content suggests that the first damaged column of the large fragment is the beginning of the letter. In regards to the content, the columns three and four are preserved entirely; only the first and last signs are damaged, but reconstructable. Thus the text loss at the beginning and at the end of the first two columns is minor. The end of the text is preserved. No more than one column is lost between these two fragments, because there is a standard dimension for papyrus of the Old Kingdom. Verso: The signs are smudged. (According to Möller, Schriftstücke der VI. Dynastie (1911), IV)
Script, Primary | Old Hieratic
Language, Primary | Old Egyptian
Comments on Text Layout | The text is composed in vertical lines (columns). The space between the columns and the width of the quadrats are irregular. In column 6 the scribe did not write two product names consecutively in the vertical line of text but rather next to one another horizontally. On the smaller fragment, there is an uninscribed margin below the first column so that the end of this column is preserved. The second column is longer und there is no margin. The scribe probably did not want to begin a new column and wrote the last signs on the margin. Thus this column constitutes the end of the text.
