Text Content

Modern Title Illegible Ostracon.
Summary of Content This object is kept with Y3, which is similar in size and shape. The document is written in an ink that is not visible in IR. This implies that it is from the first (or later) centuries of the common era, during which it was common to use ink mixtures which are not picked up by IR light, but this is merely a guess. There is no archaeological or acquisitional context for this object. It is highly likely that it does NOT come from Elephantine. (See Lozachmeur's discussion of the CG "Y" collection.) The surviving text is Phoenician, or more precisely Punic, but no clear readings on the tablet can be secured.
