Summary of Content It is difficult to determine from the picture if the object is written cc, but this is likely. If the ostracon is complete, as Röllig believes, then this is truly a "note".
Comments on Text מל<כ><<ח>>א : This emendation is a guess based on context. Perhaps the writer was copying from an oral source, in which case ḥ may have been misheard as ḵ. Perhaps even the reading "salt" was intended, since it was sold from the boats. פטחנמ ? looks like פטחנס . Reading מ follows Röllig which seems more reasonable, although it does not resemble the stroke pattern?
