12page 33 on a desert road, he placed her on a donkey wanting to sleep with her. But the woman cried out saying, "The God of Saint Cosmas and his brother, help me, because my husband gave me to you (pl.), and because there is no one beside your (pl.) holiness! The God of these just men, help me!" And then a large lion came out of its den and cast itself on the man and tore his belly in the middle. However, the lion did not touch the donkey and the woman but went back into its den. The woman mounted the donkey on which the dead man had placed her. She went into the city and nothing bad happened to her at all because she trusted the God of the saints. The woman preached in the whole city what has happened to her, and everyone gave glory to God. Then the brothers of the man recognised the donkey of their brother, and the woman told them everything that had happened between her and him. The men then went into the desert and saw the lion sleeping (there), guarding the body, it did not let animals or birds touch the body. When the lion saw the men, it went back into its den, and they took the body, prepared it and buried it.

12page 34 Because this was a work of the saints so that everyone would believe the wonders and miracles that happened through the saints to the glory of God, for ever and ever, amen. The third wonder that happened through the saint Cosmas and his brother. In peace, amen. There was a Jewish woman in that city who had a disease called cancer by the physicians. It was in her body. She spent everything she had on doctors and no one could heal her. She heard about the wonders of the saints. She got up at night and went to the sanctuary (topos) of the saints, no one knowing about it, and she slept (there) until morning. That night the saints appeared to her in a dream saying to her, "When you wake up in the morning, go to the marketplace of the city and buy one pound of pig`s flesh (pork), cut it and eat from it, and you shall be healed from your illness." The woman said in her heart, "Certainly, (...)

1He who has taken our gold stayed behind, he did not go forward due to fear. His master said to him, "Come and swear to me. Then he placed his hand on the saints` head and his hands stuck into the coffin of the saints. He cried out saying, "Lord, pray for me that the saints should stop torturing me, for it is I who took the gold secretly." And the servant was still hanging (was stuck?) in the middle of the holy sanctuary (martyrion) until he told his master about the place wherein he had placed the gold. And he took it (the gold) and gave it to the church of the saints so that everyone can see it. And when his master gave the gold to the oikonomos of the church, the saits set him (the servant) free. And the whole crowd, after they saw what had happened, gave glory to the God of the saints. In the peace of God, amen. The seventh wonder that happened through the saints Cosmas and his brother. In the peace of God, amen. Again, there was a large and savage lion

12page 3 in the province of Tatherma, which ate the people who were passing the road. It made the roads deserted (man-less). After that the lion went into the fold of the saints and it took one of the sheep. The people of the city told each other, "Can the saints, who have performed such miracles, not help the sheep of their own fold so that this evil beast cannot harm them?" As the crowd was saying these, lo, the lion came with the sheep fixed on him. The whole crowd of the city was looking at it, and the lion went into the sanctuary (martyrion) of the saints and it slept beneath the saints, its nature becoming like that of a lamb. It went into and came out of the church until the day of its death to the glory of God and his holy martyrs, the Saint Cosmas and his brother. Through the grace and man-loving of our Lord and God and our Saviour Jesus Christ, our Lord, all the glory to Him and His Good Father, and the Holy Ghost the life-giver and consubstantial. Now and in all times unto the ages of all the ages, amen.
