State of Preservation | Notes before unrolling: "Broken papyrus roll. Inscribed in black and red Hieratic on recto only. Clear hand. Piled on top of roll are various small fragments mostly from the roll. Among these is one fragment of a vignette of heads of two men apparently carrying a pole on their shoulders. A few unrelated fragments. Probably a Book of the Dead. Roll can be opened." Condition: Fair. The great bulk of roll is intact but outer edges are in bad condition. |

Summary of Content | The extant text is dedicated to religious festivals celebrated in Lower Egypt, for the most part in the Delta. The sites enumerated are Heliopolis, Letopolis, Bubastis, Mendes, Hermopolis of the Delta, Sebennytos, Behbeit, the nome of the West, the nome of the Hsb-Bull, Sile, Imet, and Pi-Sopdu. Mythological allusions abound as do geographical references, both those known and those poorly understood to date. |
